FTC 11047 Secret Base Open House and Friendly Tournament
They opened their practice space to FTC teams, parents, and kids from all over Taiwan to relive the POWER PLAY season, and even held a friendly tournament.
Outreach
Our teachers step out of the classroom: helping rural school kids compete, training school teachers in robotics, and supporting charity robotics events.
A teacher's story
Teacher Peng Peng, a sixth-cohort Teach For Taiwan fellow, spent four years at Changle Elementary in Manzhou, Pingtung — teaching the school's first-ever computer class, starting a robotics club, leading the kids to a national engineering creativity title, and taking on FLL. Since coming back to Taipei to open Dr. Player Da'an, Teacher Peng Peng has also been training school teachers in robotics in Hsinchu and beyond.
“You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

Our students give back too
Besides competing, our FTC team visits elementary schools and kindergartens to let kids get hands-on with robots — planting STEM seeds everywhere they go.

They opened their practice space to FTC teams, parents, and kids from all over Taiwan to relive the POWER PLAY season, and even held a friendly tournament.

Just before Christmas, Screw It helped kindergartners build scooters and drive remote-control F1 cars. Beyond winning at competitions, they want to plant seeds of STEM everywhere they can.

Kids tried driving robots with homemade F1 cars. All proceeds from the fair were donated to the center of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), directly helping the kids there.

In the morning they introduced robots at Dazhu Elementary School, and in the afternoon they held a charity sale. They shared their love of robotics with everyone and raised funds for the trip to the world stage.

A VEX GO robotics competition run by the Yonglin Foundation for children in rural and underserved communities, with Dr. Player Robotic Lab as a co-organizer. The theme was "Sustainable City Technology," and 64 teams competed side by side at the NTU Sports Center.

A nature club supported by the Cathay Dream Program for Students. With teaching resources from Teacher Peng Peng at our Da'an classroom, they won 1st place at our VEX GO Robot Teamwork Challenge.

Teacher Peng Peng led elementary and middle school teachers through a full day of hands-on VEX robotics and shared how to bring it into computer science class.

The Yonglin Foundation's first robotics competition for Hope Elementary School students. Dr. Player Robotic Lab was a co-organizer, helping kids take their hard work to the stage.

Kids worked on an FLL project: they split into teams, completed robot missions, and presented their results on stage.

Teacher Peng Peng shared the story of four years in rural Pingtung, and of coming back to Taipei to open a robotics classroom.

We showed college student volunteers how to write lesson plans and reflect after class, so they'd have the basics down before heading out to serve.

Teachers from different subjects built EV3 robots hands-on, from parts and coding all the way to designing a project-based lesson.

TFT followed the robotics journey of Teacher Peng Peng and the kids in Manzhou: they didn't give up even after losing, and got to see the world beyond their own.

A very remote elementary school in Manzhou, Pingtung won the national championship and 3rd place at the 2021 Pingtung County Magistrate Cup National Engineering Creativity Competition.

Teacher Turtle spent a full day teaching at Changle Elementary School in Manzhou, Pingtung. In their first competition as a school, they formed two FLL teams and two FLL Jr. teams.

In two days, students build a VEX V5 ClawBot from scratch, write C++ for driver control and autonomous mode, and finish with a team competition.
